 Smoky eyes can give you a more glamorous look. Glamorous looks inspired by the red carpet or high-fashion runways can be a great way to turn up the volume on an evening look. Alluring eyes, sculpted cheekbones and glossy lips are just some techniques women can add to their make-up arsenal for just such an occasion. French-based design house Louis Vuitton showcased a modern take on some of these dazzling makeup techniques, featuring a purple smoky eye and deep violet pout, in its Spring 2011 runway show.

Gunmetal charcoal, deep violet or shimmering navy are just some examples of the pigments that can be used as base colors for smoky eyes. Sweep the eye shadow over the entire lid, using a large eye shadow brush, working the product from the outer corner of the lid, inward. To prohibit any spillage, paper tissue can be placed under the eye. Top the base hue with a highlight color, such as an iridescent beige—which is applied across the brow bone and inner corner of the eye with a small shadow brush. Line the top lid with black liquid liner, before applying a healthy dose of mascara.
Those desiring a more dramatic look can achieve it with false lashes. They are available in many styles, from simple individual lashes to strips studded with rhinestones. To apply false lashes, pick them up by the tip with a pair of tweezers and apply a dab of glue to the back of the lash. Let the glue dry for about 10 seconds, before placing the fake lashes on top of the natural lashes, close to the lash line. Individual lashes can be glued close to the outer edge of the lash line and in the middle, right over the pupil. Use mascara to brush the natural lashes up, blending both sets of lashes together.
Another glamor tips is to sculpt the face using contouring and highlighting. Choose a loose powder that is two shades darker than your foundation for contouring, and two shades lighter for highlighting. Using a compact mid-size powder brush, sweep the darker shade under the cheekbones, along the temples and underneath the jaw line. Next, using the same brush, apply the lighter color at the brow bone and the top of the cheek bone. Finish contouring by sweeping the highlighting color down the center of the nose.
A bold deep plum or red lip color can help transform give a day-time look a more seductive edge. Apply a moisturizing balm to the lips with the fingertips, as this can help the color to glide on. Next, use a lip pencil that matches the lipstick and outline the lips, making sure to follow the lip’s natural shape. Dab the lipstick on with a lipstick brush, starting at the outer corners, moving inward towards the center. Make sure to blend the lip color with the liner. For the finishing touch, apply clear or similarly-colored gloss on top with the same lip brush.
