I think many women of a certain age will have read various different articles online and in magazines regarding the use of Botox injections for wrinkles. This is because no one likes to have a wrinkled up face, particularly if they are still quite young.
Furthermore there is also a real pressure from the media to get this treatment done because we are always being told about the latest celebrities who have recently had Botox. In a way we don't want to be left behind, even though the reality is that it is only a very small minority of people that actually get this treatment done.
The fact remains that Botox does do a great job of eliminating your wrinkles. Shortly after having this treatment, you will nearly always be delighted with your new look. However the major downside is that this new appearance will only be short lived because it only takes between three and six months for the effects to gradually wear off.
If you want a permanent solution and a totally wrinkle-free face for the foreseeable future, then your best bet is to get a facelift. This doesn't always give perfect results, just like any surgical procedure, but it does at least get rid of your wrinkles.
Anyway going back to Botox, it is a decent short term fix to the age old problem of wrinkles, but you have to keep going back for a new injections at least a few times a year if you want to maintain your appearance. As you can imagine, this is not cheap by any means, which is why it is still predominantly rich celebrities that get this treatment done.
Once you make the decision to actively treat your wrinkles using this particular method, you will usually find that it becomes somewhat of an addiction. This is because you will have seen how you looked without any wrinkles (shortly after the first session), and so you will not want to go back to how you used to look. So you could easily end up having multiple treatments over the course of many years.
This is not only very expensive, but potentially dangerous because there are always possible side effects. Plus the more sessions you have, the more chance you have of your face firming up too much. This is why a lot of the long term users of Botox often have totally emotionless faces.
I personally think it is generally a better idea to save yourself some money, and opt for the daily maintenance method instead. In other words you want to do plenty of research online, and try and find a daily skin cream that is capable of reducing the appearance of wrinkles when you use it on a daily basis.
Admittedly the results may not be quite as good, but at least you won't experience any pain or discomfort. The truth is that unless you have a complete facelift, you are fighting a losing battle trying to deal with wrinkles because they will become more common as you grow older.
Of course you could do what a lot of women do and simply ignore them altogether. I know women in their twenties who have wrinkles on their forehead already, and to be honest I never even noticed them until they pointed them out to me one day.
So the choice is entirely up to you. You just need to be aware that continuous use of Botox can be very expensive and quite addictive because you need to keep going back in order to maintain your appearance.
