How to Do a Cocoon Wrap From Home

How to Do a Cocoon Wrap From Homethumbnail Cocoon wraps offer many health benefits. Cocoon wraps are body wraps offered at many spas and salons, as the treatment has healing and therapeutic potential. Cocoon wraps help to detoxify, eliminate cellulite, tone and tighten the skin, improve circulation, alleviate muscle and joint pain and reduce acne and blemishes. Like most spa treatments, cocoon wraps can be very expensive. Fortunately, you can prepare a cocoon wrap at home.

Place a plastic sheet, such as a painter's drop cloth, or water-proof covering over a couch or other soft surface where you will be comfortable to lay for an hour. Arrange a pillow or two for your comfort.

2

Add other amenities to stimulate relaxation. For instance, light candles or play gentle, soothing music. Place a bottle of water next to the station for hydration.

3

Heat two blankets in the drier. Set these two blankets and one unheated blanket on the couch.

4

Boil 8 to 10 cups of distilled water in a large pot. Add one cup of herbal ingredients, such as chamomile, lavender, calendula, ginger or a mixture of any of these. Alternatively, use one cup of Epsom salt. Allow the treatment to sit for approximately 10 to 20 minutes, until it is cool enough to touch.

5

Dip the towels into the water, one at a time. Fully soak the towel and then wring out over the pot. Wrap a towel around each ankle and each leg.

6

Wrap a towel around your torso, chest and upper back. Wrap a towel around each arm. Keep your head and neck exposed and unwrapped.

7

Lie down on the couch in between the two heated blankets. Place the unheated blanket on top of you.

8

Lie still for approximately one hour. Set a timer, if necessary, in case you fall asleep. Remove the blankets and towels and take a cool or tepid bath.
