Makeup Tips for Red Copper Hair

Makeup Tips for Red Copper Hairthumbnail Customize your makeup regimen to fit with copper hair. Hair color should be considered when making makeup decisions. Copper is a rare hair color, so makeup tips aren't always geared toward this group of redheads. Natural redheads can learn from makeup tips how to properly show off their natural hair color, fair complexion and facial features. Use hair color to frame a beautifully made-up face.

Naturally copper hair goes hand in hand with a fair complexion and freckles. Above all, look for makeup with sun protection. Naturally copper-haired people should use sheer foundation made for fair skin that will even out the skin tone without covering up freckles. The correct foundation is one that disappears in tone once blended into the skin.

Coordinate blush with copper hair color. The hue of the blush should have a copper tone, but only one step darker than your natural skin tone. A shade of pink, plum or berry will visibly clash with copper hair.

Look for lipsticks with an orange undertone. To find the undertone of a lipstick, smear a lipstick onto a piece of white paper and look at the tone that comes out on the paper. Coral, nude, peach and poppy red hues all look good with copper hair because they contain orange undertones.

Copper hair will go with eye shadow in complementary colors, or colors of the same copper family. Complementary colors include jewel tones of green and purple. Colors in the same family will include autumnal tones of gold, bronze and umber. Black eyeliner and mascara can have a harsh effect against the fair skin of a naturally copper-haired person, so look for shades of brown in both types of makeup.
