How to Create an Online Resume for a Makeup Artist

Add photographs to your online resume. Showcasing your work through photographs is the most effective way to present your work as a makeup artist. Using visual examples of your work to accompany an online resume is a viable means to incorporate portfolio work with a list of your past makeup artist jobs. Online resumes make your experience and resume readily available for employers to peruse and streamline the process of selecting you for any available job opportunities.

Difficulty:Moderate1
Gather examples of various categories of your best work. For example, if your work was featured in a magazine, use that picture in your online resume. Group your pictures into categories, such as special effects, fashion and bridals. You might also include categories like television and film.
2
Type a resume in a word processing program that includes your past makeup artist jobs and education. List jobs according to the type of make-up you applied or list them from most recent to oldest. Include the employer, the name of the film or television show, if applicable, and the types of work you did in short descriptions under each. Also list the dates of each job within the last couple of years, less if you have a substantial amount in a short period of time. List your education in reverse chronological order, starting with the most recent and working backward.
3
Double-check your resume for accuracy, spelling, typos, grammatical and punctuation mistakes. Also, check any photograph captions you plan to upload to your online resume site for errors. Your online resume should be free from mistakes to attest to your level of attention to detail and your professionalism.
4
Create your own website with a domain name that includes your name or a description of your work so potential employers can easily find it. Upload your photographs to a gallery section of your website, categorizing them according to the groups you previously made. Enter your resume information on its own page or upload it as a document to a page titled "Resume." Include a short biography and a list of your services and rates on your site as well.
Upload your resume and photo galleries to an online makeup artist portfolio site in addition to creating your resume website. Link to your website from these sites if possible.
If you are unfamiliar with web design, consider hiring a professional to streamline the process. Ensure that you actively participate in the design and layout of the website so potential employers get a feel for your aesthetic approach.
