How to Give Yourself a Fohawk

How to Give Yourself a Fohawkthumbnail The fohawk hairstyle features a small fin on the top of the head. A fohawk is a more subdued take on the giant punk mohawk. The style earns its name from the fact that it is not quite a mohawk, although you do have a small fin of hair sticking up on the top of your hair. Unlike the mohawk, the fohawk does not necessitate shaving the sides of your head completely; instead, the sides are clipped short. Styling one takes only a few moments with the right products.

Have your hair cut short on the sides, with a longer strip down the middle of your head. Tell the stylist you plan to wear your hair in a fohawk style.

Wash your hair every other day instead of every day. Hair that is slightly dirty, with a bit of styling product left over, will stand up better than freshly washed hair.

3

Work a texturizing styling paste through your hair. Look for one that leaves behind little strands of fiber when you put a dab on your fingers and pull your fingers apart.

4

Smooth down the sides of your hair with your hands or a comb. Pull the hair on top straight up with your hands, pushing any loose strands up toward the fohawk.

5

Spritz your fohawk with a liberal application of hairspray. If necessary, blow-dry the hair on top of your head while pulling it straight up to help keep its shape.
